In case of gutter channels exceeding 12 metres, use an expansion union and then install one every 8 metres, and two running outlets. Keep in mind that the distance between two drain points should not exceed 24 metres. A gutter channel running around a four-pitch roof requires installing both expansion unions and running outlet with gasket. Gutter channels in length 12 metres or less do not require being installed using expansion unions since the profile expands only at the ends. EXPANSION EXPANSION EXPANSION Installation of considerably long gutter systems usually calls for solutions that on one hand allow improved rainwater drainage and on the other prevent problems due to wide temperature changes that mildly affect PVC expansion. For water to run smoother through the channel and into downpipes, we recommend a slope slightly greater than the 0.33% standard value shown on page 20.
